AVID
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a four-year program designed to prepare students for entry and success in a four-year college or university. Students learn the value of organization and time management skills, personal learning styles, the Cornell note-taking system, goal-setting, and reading, writing, and test-taking tips. They also examine college entrance requirements, financial aid information, and learn how to choose a college or career that is right for them. Students will visit three Bay Area universities and hear local business people speak about their educational choices and careers.
To apply for next year's AVID class or as an AVID Tutor, see your counselor for the application. Submit your completed application with your Course Request Form. For more information about specific classes and academic pathways, please refer to our Student Planning Guide.
