Safe Routes to School
CUSD's Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program aims to bring the community together to enable more students to walk and bicycle to school more safely and more often, advocating for safer routes to school and offering student safety education programs and encouragement events. The overall goal of SRTS is to improve student health and well-being while reducing traffic congestion and pollutants in our school communities.
- Walk & Roll to School events: Students encourage one another to walk and bike to school.
- Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day: Students walk to school and learn about Ruby Bridges in their classes.
- School Travel Fellowship: Focused on keeping students safe while walking or cycling. This group painted the school intersection with the school logo to draw attention to it and slow drivers down.
Funding and guidance come from the SRTS San Mateo County grant program, which is managed by the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) and funded by the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. For information on SRTS San Mateo County, visit: Safe Routes to School
